ABOUT ME -- HOW DID I GET HERE?!
The road to my cozy office in the School of Harmony Complex in Beaver, WV, was straight, but not deliberate. I started my college career as a math education major, just like my mother, who is a now-retired high school calculus teacher. It didn't take long for me to figure out accounting was a more interesting use my of math skills. So, I switched majors, graduated from Concord College with honors, passed the dreaded CPA exam and diligently worked for a regional accounting firm. Within five years, I was promoted to auditing and accounting supervisor.
My position at the firm allowed me to gain experience in many different industries: banking, entertainment, natural resources, health care, agriculture and retail. I also became proficient in financial statement presentation, taxation, nonprofit auditing and internal control assessments.
In late 2010, the Lord led me in a new direction, providing me an avenue to foster my role as a mother while continuing along on my professional path. I opened the office of Michele R. Davis, CPA in a renovated public school building. The same school building where I attended 7th, 8th and 9th grades.
My childhood was a blend of farm and church, creating a strong work ethic and a deep-rooted attachment to my community. I am a life-long member of Grandview Christian Church and serve the congregation as a piano accompanist. My husband, Will, is a full-time worship minister and a part-time family entertainer. We have three children.
I believe the best professional relationships are forged with a firm handshake and a warm smile. Please feel free to stop in anytime and say hello. Visitors are welcome and the coffee is always hot.
